South Africa’s largest airline, FlySafair, said it reached an agreement with cabin crew, ending a deadlock over compensation a week before the country hosts world leaders at the Group of 20 summit.
The carrier sealed a four-year pact with the South African Cabin Crew Association, it said in a statement on Thursday, without disclosing the details of the deal.
While FlySafair started locking out crew more than a week ago as talks stalled, the airline, which controls 60% of the domestic market and transports about 300 000 passengers daily, maintained throughout that its operations weren’t affected.
It reached a pact with pilots over wages and work schedules in August, after 12 days of lockouts and strike action.
The first-ever G20 leaders’ summit on the African continent kicks off in Johannesburg on 22 November.
