Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Thandani “Bibo” Ntshumayelo has been granted R1 000 bail following his arrest over the weekend.
The 33-year-old was arrested on Saturday, 3 February, for common assault under the Domestic Violence Act.
Ntshumayelo appeared briefly at the Randburg Magistrates court in Joburg on Monday, 5 February.
His case, involving an alleged assault on his girlfriend Itumeleng Alice, was postponed to 4 April.
This is not the first time that Ntshumayelo finds himself on the wrong side of the law. In 2015, his career was dealt a huge blow when he tested positive for cocaine, which is banned substance.
As a result, the former midfielder was slapped with a four-year ban from football by the South African Institute for Drug Free Sport.
Ntshumayelo was developed at SuperSport United and promoted to the senior team in 2009.
Three years later, the Sea Robbers came for his services, and he played for them until 2016 when he was banned.
After his return in 2018, Baroka came for his services but the involved parties did not work out for long. Swallows FC was his next stop, but like Baroka, it did not last and announced his retirement.
