Gcaba’s hat-trick fires Durban City into CK quarterfinals.

Durban City became the first team to make the quarter-final of the Carling Knockout after beating Polokwane City 4-1 after extra-time at the Chatsworth Stadium on Friday night.

The hosts scored their first goal in the 12th minute as Fezile Gcaba converted Saziso Magawana’s assist. It seemed the defender had done enough to win it for the PSL’s new boys, but Lebohang Nkaki took the teams to extra time with his 89th-minute strike.

Mfanafuthi Mkhize scored in the third minute of extra time to put the Citizens in the driving seat, before Gcaba struck in the 111th and 114th minutes to send his team through.

Durban City will be in action after the upcoming Fifa break when they take on AmaZulu FC, in the Betway Premiership clash on October 18, while Polokwane City will turn their attention to the Betway Premiership as they are scheduled to travel to Soweto, where they are set to take on Orlando Pirates on October 21.
