Gomora actor Siyabonga Zubane,27 popularly known for his role on the telenovela as Sdumo, has died.
The family Siyabonga have confirmed that he died at his rental home in Soweto.
Siyabonga’s aunt Nomvula Zubane says his housemates found him in bed and took him to the hospital after contacting his family.
“We don’t really know if it was suicide, but there are no signs. We are still waiting for the postmortem. He was found him in bed nonresponsive,” she says.
Siyabonga played the role of car hijacker and criminal Sdumo on the Mzansi Magic telenovela. He previously acted in Mzansi Magic’s telenovela Isibaya and seemed to have a glowing career ahead of him.
Born in Alexandra Township where the telenovela is being shot daily, Siyabonga understood the lingo and culture of his own township.
Tributes have started to trickle in on social media as people express their shock.

Fellow cast member and veteran actress Connie Chiume, who plays Sonto on Gomora, said she was devastated by Siyabonga’s sudden passing.
“We are so devastated on why do we keep losing our young kids, our future leaders, talented people like this. What’s going on, especially in our industry? We don’t know what to say, what to do, something needs to be done.”
