Are you also jealous of everyone who’s going to watch the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France while you have to sit at home like a sad puppy? Well, then kykNET has fantastic news for you. Vanes-Mari du Toit and Hamilton Wessels are once again going to follow the Springboks all the way to the World Cup and give you a riveting rugby journey in their new series, In Frans, ja!
In 2019, Vanes-Mari and Hamilton supported the Springboks in Japan, became acquainted with the fascinating culture, and met many remarkable people. In Frans, ja! is even more exciting because now the Springboks have a chance to bring the trophy home for a fourth time.
The World Cup kicks off on 8 September 2023. So, it’s time for Hammie, as his friends call him, and Vanes to dust off their passports, get a 15th booster shot each, and head to France to take you on a grand Afri-French adventure.
In France, there is, of course, much more than just exciting rugby to enjoy: world-famous wines and culinary delights, haute couture, art treasures and some of the best beaches on Earth.
Vanes says Japan was fun, but France is going to be FUNTASTIC: “We look forward to doing, eating and seeing everything that this fabulous country has to offer.”
Vanes and Hammie will follow the Springboks from Marseille to Bordeaux, where they’ll enjoy a bit of wine tasting and try their hand at painting a mural. After that, they’ll watch the Springboks play Ireland in Biarritz with former Bok Flip van der Merwe. Then it’s time for a scenic rugby boat trip with other South Africans. And if all goes well, Hammie and Vanes will hopefully witness the Springboks lifting the Webb Ellis trophy again – this time in Paris.
Hammie says if you thought In Japan, ja! was an adventure, you’re in for an even bigger treat, because he and Vanes are going to show the French and the rugby supporters of all the other countries how it’s done at a World Cup.
“Japan will never be the same again after Vanes and I took it by storm with the previous World Cup. The French won’t know what hit them either. We plan to leave them thunderstruck and, of course, with the William Webb Ellis trophy by our side,” says a beaming Hammie.
We think Hammie actually just wants to hold up the Webb Ellis trophy he “accidentally” stole in Japan one more time. We’ll have to wait, keep our fingers crossed, and see.
In Frans, ja! will air every Saturday night at 19:30 on kykNET (DStv Channel 144) starting from 9 September 2023. The series will also be available on Catch Up and DStv Stream.
