Build One South Africa (BOSA) has taken the decision to terminate the party membership of its sole representative in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL), Ayanda Allie.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the party said its Board had resolved to end Allie’s membership after disciplinary proceedings.
The party said that, in line with its Constitution, Allie was given an opportunity to appeal the Board’s decision but chose not to do so, making the termination final.
“The Board extends its gratitude to Ms Allie for her service to BOSA and to the people of Gauteng,” the party said.
The party did not disclose the reasons behind the disciplinary action, saying only that it had undertaken repeated efforts through engagement, consultation and mediation to resolve the matter amicably before reaching its decision.
In response to the termination of her membership, she said “It is well”.
A circulated photograph with Herman Mashaba sparked intense speculation that she might be joining Action SA.
Allie is known as a news anchor on various TV channels and a radio broadcaster.
She also served as a spokesperson for the department of transport under then minister Fikile Mbalula.
Allie has a masters degree in public administration and was a former seasonal lecturer at the Wits School of Governance.
She has also authored a book, How To Save a Life: Reflections of a Change Agent. It details the journey taken by Allie and her team to build a lasting legacy for the youth of Soweto.
