Athletics South Africa (ASA) president James Moloi’s notice of misconduct dated 12 December 2025 was dismissed and his suspension was lifted.
Moloi was suspended in late October 2025 following allegations and a SASCOC probe into his misuse of an ASA credit card for personal use.
His disciplinary hearing sat two days ago at Athletics SA House in Houghton. Fullview has established that Moloi has been reinstated with immediate effect.
The allegations against Moloi first surfaced during ASA’s appearance before the Sports, Arts and Culture parliamentary portfolio committee, in June 2025.
The athletics organisation’s hierarchy was grilled on a number of issues, including allegations of Moloi abusing federation funds for his own expenses. The ASA president denied the allegations, saying he had used the money to entertain potential ASA partners.
The card was used to pay for personal expenses, including clothing, fast food and alcohol.
The ASA president had claimed at the time that these were legitimate expenses incurred in entertaining potential business partners.
After these revelations, Minister of Sport Gayton McKenzie instructed SASCOC to launch a full forensic investigation into ASA’s financial affairs.
Moloi was recently re-elected as the President of ASA for another four-year term at their June 2025 Quadrennial General Meeting.
