DSTV Delicious organisers have confirmed that Janet Jackson will no longer be able to perform at the food and music festival this coming weekend.
Jackson will be attending to family commitments relating to the death of her brother,Tito Jackson, following his passing at the age of 70 on Sunday.
Tito was a founding member of the Jackson 5.
Jackson, 58, was announced as one of the headliners for this year’s Delicious Festival alongside Neo-Soul singer Jill Scott and South Africa’s Thandiswa. The event takes place at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit.
She was scheduled to perform on Saturday with Thandiswa while Scott performs on Sunday.
Ticket holders wishing to exchange their Saturday tickets for Sunday tickets will have until midnight on Wednesday to do so. To exchange tickets, click here.
“It is with heartfelt understanding that we announce Janet Jackson will no longer be able to headline the DStv Delicious Festival Powered by Lottostar due to pressing family commitments following the recent passing of her brother, Tito Jackson, “organisers said.
“We send our deepest condolences and support to Janet and her family during this time of mourning.”
More information regarding the replacement headliner will be announced soon, as festival management continues their efforts to deliver a memorable weekend of music, food, and culture.
DStv Delicious festival will be expanding its focus. It will highlight not only outstanding food and music, but also art and fashion. Now in its 11th year of making enduring memories, it will also feature a special performance. This will be to honour the greats from the music industry.
The 30 Years of Creative Freedom-themed show on Saturday will feature performances by Boom Shaka, Cassper Nyovest and Focalistic. Also Khuli Chana, Maggz, Morafe, Okmalumkoolkat, Reason, Robot Boii and Touchline. Mzwakhe Mbuli SNR, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Sipho “Hotstix” Mabuse, Jesse Clegg, Zolani Mahola as well as more artists to be announced soon.
