Molemo Katleho Maarohanye, popularly known as “Jub Jub”, made his first appearance in the Germiston Magistrates Court in the East of Johannesburg.
Maarohanye is facing two charges linked to an incident involving an e-hailing driver in Edenvale earlier this month.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Maarohanye faces charges of discharging a firearm in a public place and pointing anything likely to lead a person to believe that it is a firearm.
NPA said, the subsequent investigation, a pellet gun was seized at Maarohanye’s residence.
The court heard that the matter could not proceed on Monday as investigations are still ongoing. The case was subsequently postponed to August 24, 2026.
NPA Spokesperson Abraham Mohlatlole said that the state will continue to be guided by the evidence.
“The NPA remains guided by the evidence and is committed to ensuring that the matter proceeds through the criminal justice process without fear, favour or prejudice,” said Mohlatlole.
Maarohanye will remain out on bail on R5000 bail pending his next court appearance, when the case is expected to return to court.
Speaking to journalists outside court, Maarohanye said he is complying with all legal proceedings and strongly denies the allegations against him.
He expressed shock at the allegations and claimed the incident was fabricated.
“In all cases, anything that is related to me, it’s always God first, anywhere before I step into the moment. Everyone is against me, and they are trying to put things together and maybe formulate something or some case or whatever, it’s fine, it is what it is.
Maarohanye currently presents Uyajola 9/9, a reality TV show on Moja Love, Channel 157 that attempts to expose cheating partners.
Maarohanye was convicted in 2010 of culpable homicide and related offences after a drag-racing crash in Soweto killed four schoolchildren and injured several others. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison and released on parole in 2017.
He has also faced other legal challenges in recent years, including rape and assault allegations made by actress Amanda du-Pont, which he has denied. Ultimately the NPA dropped the charges against him.
