Kaizer Chiefs Football Club have announced the departure of yet another defender, Austin Dube.
Dube, 30, was released by Chiefs after both parties agreed to terminate his contract which was still left with one year to run.
“Austin Dube has left Kaizer Chiefs after reaching an agreement with the Club to facilitate his exit,” the club said in a statement on Thursday.
“We are sad to see Austin leaving us, but we felt that it was in the best interests of the Club, as well as Austin himself, in terms of the furtherance of his career that we allow him the freedom to pursue other options and opportunities,” said Motaung Jr.
“Austin has been a model professional during his time with us and we thank him for his contribution to Kaizer Chiefs. We all wish him everything of the best.”
The left-footed centre-back featured in 17 matches in all competitions in his first season at Naturena but he only made one appearance last campaign — in a 3-2 loss against Golden Arrows in February, playing the entire 90 minutes.
Dube was signed by Chiefs at the beginning of the 2021/22 season from Richards Bay, after his impressive and polished display in the defence for the Natal Rich Boyz in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
