Kaizer Chiefs Football Club have parted ways with head coach Molfi Ntseki with immediate effect, following a crisis meeting with the club to determine his future.
Ntseki’s sacking comes after an early exit from the Carling Knockout Cup after 1-0 defeat to AmaZulu FC at FNB Stadium on Saturday.
The defeat added to a string of poor results that Chiefs endured under his leadership.
In a brief statement on their official X page, Chiefs said: following a meeting on Monday morning, Molefi Ntseki’s tenure as Head Coach of Kaizer Chiefs has ended amicably by mutual consent.
“We wish him all the best.”
Ntseki expressed his gratitude to the Chairman, Dr. Kaizer Motaung, and the Board of Directors for the opportunity to coach Amakhosi, and wished the team all the best for the rest of the season.
The situation escalated after Ntseki faced objects thrown by the club’s fans once again following a demoralizing loss at the weekend.
This marked the third such incident this season, and Ntseki has openly expressed that it’s taking a toll on him and his family.
Ntseki served as technical director at the club before replacing Arthur Zwane before the beginning of the season.
Cavin Johnson, who recently joined Chiefs as Head of the Youth Development Academy, will take over as the first team coach on an interim basis. Current assistant coach, Dillon Sheppard will retain his position under Johnson.
Assistant Coach, Arthur Zwane will return to his former role within the development structures of the Club.
