The case of alleged drug dealer and underworld kingpin Katiso “KT” Molefe has been transferred to the Johannesburg High Court.
Molefe and his three co-accused appeared in Alexandra Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
All four are expected to appear in the Johannesburg High Court on 5 February next year, where the consolidated charges will be heard.
Fullview learnt that Molefe has changed legal representation ahead of the trial.
The indictment lists 35 charges in total — including 15 counts of murder, unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition, and other serious offences.
The State says cellphone data places the accused at the scenes before, during and after the murders, while WhatsApp chats and call logs allegedly show coordination of the attacks and discussions about payments Molefe is accused of promising.
Outside the courthouse, security concerns flared when two bodyguards aged 24 and 36, were arrested for possessing two semi-automatic AKM rifles and ammunition without valid permits.
The pair were escorting one of the accused. Police also impounded their vehicle after discovering the licence disc did not match the registration plates.
Authorities says investigations into the illegal firearms and suspected tampering with vehicle details are ongoing.
Police spokesperson, Athlenda Mathe, says the men were found carrying two semi-automatic rifles and ammunition without valid permits.
Mathe says investigations are continuing into the origins of the firearms, the status of the vehicle and the precise role of the two suspects at court.
The two arrested men are expected to appear in court once they are formally charged.
In July 2025, Molefe was arrested in a major takedown by the SAPS Political Killings Task Team (PKTT). He’s accused of masterminding multiple murders and attempted murders, including the brazen 2022 assassination of DJ Sumbody and his bodyguard in Johannesburg.
Sumbody, real name Oupa John Sefoka, was gunned down in a hail of bullets while driving in Woodmead.
Molefe is also alleged to have played a key role in the murder of Don Tindleni, as well as that of engineer Armand Swart, who was shot dead outside his Vereeniging offices in 2024.
