Real Housewives of Durban (RHOD) cast member, Kwanele Khubeka wants people to know that her marriage isn’t as perfect as it looks on social media.

Fullview recently caught up with 30-year-old newcomer Kwanele, a wife, mother of four, entrepreneur, and social media influencer.

She opened up about her journey joining the show, the drama that’s unfolded on-screen, and the overwhelming reactions from audiences to her personal story.

Kwanele’s addition to the cast has brought a fresh dynamic to the show. Her story, filled with authenticity and vulnerability, has resonated with viewers.

Her decision to join RHOD was driven by a desire for growth. Naturally shy and reserved, she saw the show as an opportunity to challenge herself and step out of her comfort zone.

“I wanted to see if I could be more than just quiet version of myself,” she shared. Despite initial nerves, Kwanele is proud of her journey so far. “It’s been a mix of emotions, but I’m learning to navigate them”.

Watching herself on screen has been an eye-opener for Kwanele. As someone who shies away from attention, seeing her life edited for television was surreal.

“It’s shocking but also empowering,” she admitted. While some scenes surprised her with their emotional depth, she feels the show has captured her authenticity well.

Kwanele has also opened up about her marriage challenges—a bold move in a world where social media often showcases only perfection.

“People see about 40% of your life online—the rose petals and cute cards—but not the arguments or tears,” she explained.

For me, it was really important to be open and honest. As a couple, we have faced challenges like anyone else. It is easy to put on a perfect façade for the world to see but I wanted to show the real us,” shared Kwanele.

Life is about authenticity, and I believe that’s what makes it so relatable. We are not perfect, but we are navigating it all together. My hope is that by sharing our story, we can encourage others to be honest about their own struggles and know they are not alone.”
