Democratic Republic of Congo-born forward Glody Makabi Lilepo has completed a move from Kaizer Chiefs to Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi, following an agreement on the transfer fee between the two Clubs.
Lilepo was tied to the club until June 2027, with an option to extend for a further year, meaning any interested club will have to table a convincing offer to secure his services.
In his farewell, Lilepo expressed gratitude to Dr Kaizer Motaung, Kaizer Motaung Jr, Bobby Motaung, the coaching staff and all staff at the club, writing: “Khosi Nation, it is with emotion that my journey with you comes to an end. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to everyone at Kaizer Chiefs.”
The winger also reflected on the silverware and continental milestones achieved during his time at Naturena.
Together, we were able to bring a trophy back to this great club after ten years and secure qualification for the CAF Confederation in two consecutive seasons. I will always cherish the memories we created together. I know this club deserves more, and I have no doubt that greater days lie ahead,” he added.
Lilepo’s move ends a successful spell at Naturena in which he established himself as one of Amakhosi’s standout performers. He leaves Chiefs after making 56 appearances in all competitions, scoring 15 goals and providing five assists.
