ActionSA has announced its mayoral candidates for eThekwini, KwaDukuza, and Newcastle ahead of the 2026 local government elections.
Zwakele Mncwango was named mayoral candidate for eThekwini Municipality. He is currently the provincial chairperson of ActionSA.
Halalisani Ndlovu, announced for the KwaDukuza Local Municipality, while Zwe Nxumalo, nominated for the Newcastle Local Municipality.
We are appealing to people of eThekwini, if they want to see the kind of governance that we are experiencing in the City of Tshwane under Dr. Nasipi Moya, that’s what they will get, ” ActionSA president Herman Mashaba said.
He said the mayoral candidate announcement marks an important milestone in ActionSA’s campaign to present credible leadership, practical solutions, improved service delivery, restored public trust and sustainable economic growth across KZN
“Politicians are your servants; we work for you. If a councillor fails, we will kick them out. If ActionSA councillors are involved in corruption, they will be fired immediately. Residents in the province have lived among the worst corruption ever,” he said.
ActionSA has positioned itself as the alternative to corruption, political patronage and unfulfilled promises.
Speaking after being announced as the mayoral candidate of eThekwini, Mncwango said they are not interested in positions but want their main five priorities to be respected. Amongst the priorities are service delivery, fighting corruption, reclaiming hijacked buildings and establishing a specialised Durban metro police unit to fight illegal immigration in Durban.
He said they would support routine lifestyle audits for municipal officials and councillors.
“We will conduct annual lifestyle audits for senior officials and all councillors. We have to know how you live, when you join the council we must know what you have, so you must declare. As you carry on, we have to know what you have acquired so that we can spot the corrupt,” Mncwango said.
South Africa is officially heading to the polls on November 4 for the highly anticipated 2026 municipal elections.
Following organisational growth after the 2024 National and Provincial Elections, the party has expanded its footprint deep into municipalities outside its traditional stronghold of Gauteng.
