The Minister of Electricity and Energy, Dr. Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, will brief the media to outline South Africa’s Revised Electricity Pricing Policy.
As the country moves past the era of load shedding, the affordability of electricity has emerged as the most pressing energy challenge for citizens, industries, and the government alike.
The revised policy aims to modernize the national pricing framework, align it with recent sector reforms, and transition toward cost-reflective tariffs whilst continuing the protection of low-income households and supporting distressed industries.
This policy is scheduled to be gazetted for public comment on Friday, 21 August 2026.
