Musician Kelly Khumalo was in the spotlight at the Pretoria High Court due to the ongoing murder case of her late boyfriend and former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa.
Lead investigator Brigadier Bongani Gininda on Wednesday, went through text messages that were sent between Kelly and her sister Zandi Khumalo in October 2013.
Gininda said, Kelly told Zandi, she wanted to get rid of the deceased because he had cast a shadow over her life.
“I am emotionally drained [and] I feel Senzo brought a dark cloud. I hate myself for not succeeding in getting rid of him, “said Gininda, reading the messages.
“I regret everything; I wish I never met Senzo. Look now. I am just seen as a person who is breaking Senzo’s family.
“He is going to leave; he is sh*t scared of his mother; I wish I was not pregnant.”
Gininda revealed this during cross-examination by advocate Sipho Ramosepele, the defence attorney for accused number one.
“One could conclude that she intended to murder him,” said Ramosepele.
Gininda said Kelly sent another message to her sister.
“I can’t wait for the day he is no longer in my heart. All I can pray for is that every day is a day I get closer to being free from him.”
Meyiwa was shot and killed while visiting Kelly at her mother’s residence in Vosloorus, Gauteng, on 26 October 2014.
Mthobisi Mncube, Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, Bongani Ntanzi, Mthokoziseni Maphisa, and Fisokuhle Ntuli are on trial for Meyiwa’s murder.
They face charges of murder, attempted murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, possession of an unlicenced firearm, and possession of ammunition.
Meanwhile Khumalo has recently revealed that she is now a certified traditional healer.
Taking to Instagram to commemorate her 40th birthday, she shared a photo of herself in Zulu attire with the caption “Awu Hlanga lomhlabathi Slwane Esinamandla wabizwa Esinamandla wabizwa wasabela” now you are certified healer.”
“I was trained in many places, including in water, nature, by prayer and through my roots, because it’s important to know where I come from to know where I’m going, “she said.
