The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK Party) hosted its first anniversary in Vosloorus, East of Johannesburg as the region that got the most votes at this year’s general elections.
The event was a precursor towards the main event to be held at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.
Jacob Zuma, leader of the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party, addressed the party’s first anniversary celebration.
Zuma said the party was formed to liberate black South Africans from suffering and poverty.
“We wanted to take back the country and govern it properly. In fact, if we were in government there would have been no poverty right now,” he said.
Zuma thanked the members for supporting and making noise about the party.
He said what is painful is that there are those who still run with the white people and not listening to the black nation.
He also revealed that the party has reopened another legal challenge on the outcome of the 29 May elections because they know that their votes were stolen.
When we withdrew the case, we didn’t say the matter has ended. It was a temporary withdrawal because we wanted to go back and investigate what really happened. The revelations we have made are head-scratching and shocking.”
Zuma said the new evidence would reveal the MK Party to be the rightful organisation to govern the country.
In his closing remark, Zuma boldly said that MK is the future, and people should know that they are not cowards.
“In few years to come we will be the one leading this country. All the thieves who were counting the votes we will remove them and have pastors removing them us,” he said.
Party secretary-general Floyd Shivambu said this is a launch for multiple events that will be taking place in different provinces.
“We’ve submitted a detailed programme as to what we will be doing to celebrate the mark of the first-year anniversary of uMkhonto Wesizwe. At the national level we are anchoring a programme here in Gauteng, one in Mpumalanga and another one in KwaZulu-Natal tomorrow, “he said.
