So far, this has been a very low-octane question session, especially given that it is President Cyril Ramaphosa’s first appearance in the National Assembly after the unrest and Cabinet reshuffle, while we’re still in a global pandemic.
Ramaphosa is vague and it appears that he is attempting to bore the opposition into submission. The follow-up questions are also poor for the most part, with the usual sweetheart questions from the ANC and only the EFF’s Naledi Chirwa, on “tangible steps” to address vaccine hesitancy and the IFP’s Mkhuleko Hlengwa, on ministerial appointments, really pressing for specifics – which Ramaphosa couldn’t or wouldn’t provide.
