Betway Premiership side Magesi FC have confirmed the departure of John Maduka, with immediate effect, with well-travelled Allan Freeze coming-in as the new head coach.

“This is to inform the public that Magesi Football Club has on this day the 11February 2026 terminated the coaching contract of John Maduka with immediate effect by mutual consent,” the club stated.

“The club has also concluded Contractual engagements with coach Allan Freeze who will resume Coaching responsibilities at Magesi FC with immediate effect.”

Magesi sit in 16th place in the Betway Premiership with just 11 points from 15 games. However, they do have two games in hand over Orbit College who sit three points ahead of them.

Meanwhile Durban City earlier this week fired Sinethemba Badela after only three matches because of a conflict over the immediate way forward for the club.

Ernst Middendorp, who started the season as technical director but then quit amid a frosty relationship with Gavin Hunt only to return in mid-December, has ruled himself out.

“I was not connected to Durban City at the time the club released Gavin Hunt at the end of November 2025; I left the club at the end of September 2025,” Middendorp said.

“Officially, I joined Durban City on 15 December 2025 in the role of technical director again. I have no interest in, nor have I pursued, the position of Head Coach at Durban City.
