The leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), Julius Malema has accused Northern Cape Premier Zamani Saul of being a con artist and a liar.
Malema says when Saul came into power, he portrayed himself as a Marxist and even compared himself to the iconic Thomas Sankara, former leader of Burkina Faso.
However, Malema asserts that these were all lies and that Saul is not a Marxist but a mere con artist.
Malema also took a jab at the Northern Cape media, accusing them of turning a blind eye to Saul’s deceitful behavior. He went as far as claiming that the media is in Saul’s pocket and that of the ANC leadership.
During his address at the Northern Cape Ground Forces Forum today, Malema also questioned why journalists have not held Saul accountable for breaking promises such as not using blue lights as a premier and selling the state house to fund children’s bursaries.
Over 1 000 leaders of the party from all five districts of the province attended the forum held in Kimberley on Saturday.
Malema said the Ipsos poll, which has predicted a dismal performance of the ruling ANC, will be a reality in 2024.
The ANC currently governs the province with over 55% of the vote, while the EFF is the third largest party in the province.
Malema said the ANC will face serious competition next year, adding that the status quo in the country cannot continue unchallenged.
The EFF leader has called on party leaders to start putting mechanisms in place to ensure victory in 2024.
The party prides itself on its student command, being at the helm of over 80% of tertiary institutions across the country.
Malema added that these are clear signs that voters believe in the message of the party.
“The ANC will be faced with serious contestation; 2024 missed opportunities of 1994. overhaul of the system. Capitalism is replaced by socialism. Ipsos poll has put ANC under 50%. We will put the ANC under 50%,” said Malema.
