Orlando Pirates midfielder Mbekezeli Mbokazi is on the verge of sealing a big move to Major League Soccer (MLS) in the United States (US).
Veteran football journalist Mark Gleeson has revealed one of the most kept secret.
According to Gleeson, the deal could be worth a significant fee for Pirates.
“Orlando Pirates’ Mbekezeli Mbokazi is in US this weekend to sign for Chicago Fire. If terms agreed there will be a US$3-million transfer fee,” Gleeson said.
Mbokazi has become one of the dependable figures for both Pirates and the national team.
His solidity was recently witnessed when he was deployed to defend against both Lesotho and Nigeria in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
He was also named man of the match after helping South Africa collect a point against Nigeria in the high-stakes encounter in Bloemfontein.
