The High Court in Pretoria has adjourned the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial until Monday morning to allow the defence to view contents of a disc that the state witness Colonel Lambertus Steyn has supplied.

Steyn has been recalled to the stand to clarify evidence pertaining to communication between one of the accused Fisokuhle Ntuli and Meyiwa’s girlfriend at the time, singer Kelly Khumalo.

Advocate Thulani Nxumalo, who represents accused number 4 in court, was expected to continue with cross examination of Steyn. However, he has requested for more time to view a disc supplied by Steyn this morning.

This disc has more information from the Vodacom cellphone records and phone downloads that Steyn worked on.

Steyn has supplied the additional evidence after Adv Nxumalo yesterday took him through cellphone data exhibits that Steyn said he could not recognise as they were not the documents he supplied.

Steyn is expected back on the stand on Monday.

Meyiwa was fatally shot while visiting Khumalo at her mother’s residence in Vosloorus, Gauteng.

Ntuli, Mkhulelwa Sibiya, Bongani Ntanzi, Mthobisi Mncube and Mthokoziseni Maphisa are on trial for Meyiwa’s murder.

They face charges of murder, attempted murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, possession of an unlicenced firearm, and possession of ammunition.
