The biggest victor of general elections Umkhonto WeSizwe Party (MKP) announced that the party objects the outcome of the elections and calls for a manual recount.
At midnight, MK party head of elections Muzi Ntshingila told an impromptu press briefing that they were not satisfied with the response from the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) after they raised several objections about the results.
He said they were demanding a manual recount of the results.
With the counting of voting districts now at 86% in KZN, the MK is in the lead in KZN with 1.2 million votes or 44..4%.
“We can’t be at 45%,” Ntshingila told journalists.”We can’t sit back and watch democracy be destroyed,” he said, alleging the results captured did not match the results from their agents.
Political parties had upto 9pm to raise objections with the commission. The MK said they were considering approaching the Electoral Court.
The CSIR elections projection model has forecast the MK to finish with 44.8% of the votes in KZN.
The model also forecasts the IFP to become the official opposition in the province with 18.2%, the ANC with 17.3%, the DA with 13.5% and the EFF with 2.2%.
Meanwhile African Congress for Transformation (ACT) and former ANC Secretary General, Ace Magashule, says he believes votes may have been rigged.
Magashule on Friday evening, said that his party had lodged an objection with the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC), claiming ballot boxes were tampered with.
With nearly 85% of voting districts counted, the party currently has a little over 14,000 votes in the Free State.
With votes counted from more than 15,000 of the 23,000 polling stations, the ANC led by some way, as expected. The Democratic Alliance(DA) was second on around 23% of the vote. Zuma’s MK Party had 12% and the EFF around 9%.
