A blaze scorched at least one mobile classroom, affecting few others at Eden Park Secondary School in Alberton.

The blaze broke out just after midday according to one of the community members living opposite the school.

No injuries were sustained as fire emergencies were able to put out the blaze.

Local resident, Marilyn Kruger, told the Alberton Record they were the first to witness the fire.

They came to lock the toilets and after lunch they noticed smoke.

They then discovered that one of the mobile classrooms was on fire and then informed community members to assist.

Community leader, Pastor Anthony Wynkwaardt said about four mobile classrooms were affected with one completely gutted.

He also said the sad part is that Grade eight and 10 learners are already disadvantaged because of the lack of classrooms.
