Netball South Africa (NSA) says Cecilia Molokwane remains suspended despite her intention to return to office.
Molokwane announced during a press conference yesterday, that she is returning back to office as the head of the federation with immediate effect, right after resigning as a director at World Netball.
Though Molokwane had resigned from the World Netball board, insisting the international federation had “no jurisdiction” over her, NSA confirmed that the global body still had the authority to continue its investigation.
NSA insisted Molokwane’s press conference was not sanctioned by the organisation and confirmed that she remains suspended and has not returned.
“To our knowledge, Cecilia Molokwane remains suspended under the directives of World Netball.”
Acting President Mami Diale, emphasised that the NSA has not engaged with Molokwane following her claims and has received no formal communication altering her suspended status.
Diale made it clear that the implications of Molokwane’s actions are significant.
“Netball South Africa and its supporters—including players, coaches, administrators, and umpires—would be severely affected should World Netball suspend the federation,” she elaborated. “It is for this reason that we have strictly complied with World Netball’s directives over the past six months. To us, netball comes first—and netball must always win.”
“Molokwane remains suspended and will not resume her duties as president,” she reiterated, ensuring that the federation prioritises stability and adherence to governance standards.
