The South African Sports Confederation, Olympic and Paralympic Committee (SASCOC) confirmed that Kgothatso Montjane has withdrawn from all competition at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
In a statement, the olympic body said, Montjane was scheduled to face Luoyao Guo from the People’s Republic of China in the first round of the Women’s Wheelchair Tennis Singles on Saturday, but was not able to take the court due to personal reasons.
Guo was awarded the win on a walk over, when the announcement of the withdrawal was made.
“The withdrawal from Paris 2024 Games also means that Motjane will no longer participate in the Women’s Wheelchair Tennis Doubles, after she and her partner, Mariska Venter, won their Friday first round match against the French duo of Emmanuelle Morch and Charlotte Fairbank.”
All the necessary steps have been taken to inform the organisers of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games and the International Tennis Federation of the decision to withdraw, read the statement.
