Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane spoke about his future with the Reds, urging the fans for patience to see the desired results.
Mosimane has made history with Al Ahly winning two consecutive CAF Champions League titles in a row.
The South African has also succeeded in repeating Manuel Jose’s achievement when he won FIFA Club World Cup bronze medals with Al Ahly.
However, the Red Devils have been struggling lately as they lost their first league title to Zamalek in five years, following that, they also lost Egypt Super Cup to Tala’a El-Gaish.
Since then, Al Ahly fans were divided as some were on Pitso’s side and others wanted a new face leading the team.
However, Al Ahly board of directors have shown their trust in Mosimane and his vision as they announced their full support for the South African.
Mosimane then addressed the situation through Al Ahly TV channel, saying that he does have the vision to improve the team but he wants the fans to be patient to see. He also spoke about Al Ahly president Mahmoud El-Khatib and his achievements with the club.
I liked to see the vision of El-Khatib, where they started, where they are now, and where they are going. It shows that the future is bright,” Pitso said.
“El-Khatib brought me here for the international program, he saw a vision through me, he brought me here, and I feel proud that I made a small contribution, it’s humbling.
“This is football, we can’t get 100% of what we want, but we are growing the team and we are getting bigger, I am happy to be a part of that.
“We need to believe in what we have, we have a much stronger team than the one we had last year, I’ve been here for only twelve months, let me settle and give me a chance.
“Now I understand Egyptian football more, I had experience on the continental level but I am new to Egyptian football.
“They [the fans] must be patient with me and I am going to do my best and I will get them what I think they can get.”
Mosimane has also asked his club to take legal action against an Egyptian football agent who has falsely claimed to represent him.
Earlier this week, in an interview with local media, prominent Egyptian agent Hazem El Hadidy claimed to represent Mosimane in a number of spheres while also discussing the possibility of his contract extension at Al Ahly.
Mosimane has since denied having any affiliation with the El Hadidy and has requested the club to institute legal action against him to prevent him from speaking on his behalf in the future.
