Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane has stressed his team will look for no excuses when they face AS Vita Club on Tuesday in a must-win game.
The Red Devils have put themselves in a difficult position following a 2-2 draw in Cairo with AS Vita Club, which left them third in Group A, behind the DR Congo based-club on goal difference.
They now should avoid a defeat on Tuesday at all costs, with even a draw less than 2-2 not being favorable by the African champions, as it will keep Vita Club ahead of Al Ahly on head-to-head.
Speaking of the encounter, Mosimane said: “Al Ahly came to Congo to win against AS Vita Club. We have a clear goal: to return to Cairo with the three points.
“Al Ahly played a very good game in Cairo, but in football, sometimes results don’t reflect the course of the game. We were close to winning, but we drew 2-2 in the end after we had missed a large number of chances.
“We know that we are facing many difficulties in the DR Congo journey, including the high temperature and high humidity, but these difficult conditions will only increase us with enthusiasm and determination to win.
“In the last edition of the CAF Champions League, Al Ahly qualified for the quarter-finals in the last round of the group stage after a draw with Al-Hilal in Khartoum and continued the journey until they lifted the title at the end.
The team is suffering from several absences, but I am always working to prepare any 11 players to participate and to represent Al Ahly as best as possible.
“I will not play any injured player unless the team doctor confirms his full readiness to participate in the matches.
