Al Ahly’s boss Pitso Mosimane and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah were named Men’s Best Player and Best Club Coach in the IFFHS men’s CAF awards 2021.
Mosimane has collected an IFFHS award, namely the Best Club Coach in the CAF area after his achievements with the Reds.
After a great start to his journey with the Red Devils, which kicked off with him winning the CAF Champions League and Egypt Cup in the final stretch of 2020. Mosimane continued his dominance the following year.
The South African guided Al Ahly to a third-place finish in the Club World Cup after beating South American champions Palmeiras in the third-place decider.
Later on in the year, Mosimane won the CAF Super Cup and his second consecutive CAF Champions League in a span of three months. During their continental journey, the Reds conceded just six goals and scored 26 goals in 13 appearances.
Meanwhile throughout the year 2021, Salah has been putting impressive shows on both domestic and continental sides with Liverpool.
Despite failing to win any major trophies with Liverpool, Salah successfully scored 31 goals in the 2020/21 season, in only 51 appearances.
In the 2021/22 season, Salah’s performances further improved, and so did his numbers, scoring 21 goals across all competitions, and it’s not even Christmas yet.
The Egyptian’s efforts won him multiple awards in the past few weeks, including the Golden Foot award, which is given to the world’s best player over the age of 28.
Liverpool’s No.11 clinched another trophy yesterday as he was named IFFHS CAF Men’s Best Player of 2021.
The CAF Goalkeeper of the Year award went to Chelsea keeper Edouard Mendy while Algeria manager Djamel Belmadi clinched the Best National Coach award.
