File:A group of anxious mothers on Thursday gathered outside the Curro schoolyard where they knelt down in the middle of the road to pray.
The Moti family have appealed for privacy as police continue the hunt for their missing boys.
Their four sons (Zidan,6, Zayyad,11, Alaan,13 and Zia,15) were abducted on Wednesday morning on their way to the Curro Heuwelkruin private school.
The family still has no idea where they could be and the motive for the kidnapping remains unknown, with no ransom demand having been received,according to police.
Moti family lawyer Philip Smit, who maintains the kidnapping was ransom-motivated said, “The family is in distress and under extreme traumatic stress for their four sons.”
“We have received hundreds of phone calls. We just need the boys back. That is all we are praying for,” Smit said.
However He later said the police have advised him not speak to the media and believed any information about the brothers in the media might jeopardise the investigation.
According to police,seven armed men,in two cars,blocked the vehicle the boys were travelling in,and fired shots. The children were forced out of the vehicle, leaving the driver behind.
The seven men said to be involved in the incident are currently being sought through a large manhunt, which involves the South African Police Services’ airwing unit,as well as private security forces.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said police were following all leads, but no arrests has been made.
