The Polokwane High Court in Limpopo on Friday, dismissed Lekompo artist Shebeshxt, whose real name is Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, urgent bail application.
Shebeshxt troubles started on 8 June 2025, during a heated road rage clash in Lebowakgomo.
He is facing charges of attempted murder, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and discharging a firearm.
The ruling was handed down on Friday, 9 January 2026, by Acting Judge Natalie Burnet in the High Court.
Shebeshxt’s legal team had approached the High Court on an urgent basis on 31 December 2025, seeking to overturn an earlier decision by the magistrate that denied him bail.
Judge Burnett noted that Schedule 6 bail applications are difficult and that the burden of proof required of accused persons must be taken seriously and respected.
“The appellant has simply not met the challenge of proving exceptional circumstances. I accordingly find that the learned magistrate did exercise his discretion correctly” she concluded.
The accused will remain in custody, and his matter is scheduled to be heard at the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on February 18.
As a star in the Lekompo music scene – a lively Limpopo style blending house and traditional beats – he rose to fame with tracks like Rato Laka.
His raw lyrics and energetic shows won him fans across South Africa, but his off-stage antics have often grabbed headlines for the wrong reasons.
