Orlando Pirates have confirmed the departure of Kermit Erasmus, Richard Ofori, Siyabonga Mpontshane, Thabang Monare, Fortune Makaringe, and striker Souaibou Marou.
Pirates have also announced the exit of assistant coach Sergio Almenara, who is returning to Europe. He said his family had difficulty adapting to life in Johannesburg.
Spanish-born Almenara came from Finland along with Jose Riveiro two seasons ago.
“Orlando Pirates can confirm that Richard Ofori, Siyabonga Mpontshane, Thabang Monare and Kermit Erasmus will be leaving us when their respective contracts come to an end on June 30, “said Pirates in a statement on the club website.
“It is with a deep sense of gratitude that we reflect on the contributions of these players during their time with us.
“We extend our heartfelt thanks to these players for their unwavering service and commitment to the club. We wish them all the best in their future endeavours.”
The released six players have left the club after winning the Nedbank Cup last week as the Soweto giants beat Mamelodi Sundowns in the final.
Their departures mean they missed an opportunity to play continental football as the Jose Riveiro-led side are heading to the Caf Champions League.
Makaringe looks set to join PSL outfit Cape Town City, with Monare is linked with a move to Stellenbosch.
Meanwhile Stellenbosch FC has confirmed the exit of midfielder Nhlanhla Mgaga after two years with the club.
He made 63 appearances across all competitions during his time at the Cape Winelands, scoring once and recording five assists.
Elsewhere AmaZulu have confirmed the departure of striker Augustine Kwem, who has been linked with a move to Cape Town City.
Kwem played for Chippa United (60 appearances, 44 starts, 9 goals) and a single campaign at TS Galaxy (19 appearances, 13 starts, 4 goals) over five seasons in South African football.
