Orlando Pirates inflicted a record 6-0 defeat on hapless hosts TS Galaxy, who allowed their visitors to run riot at the Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga on Sunday.
The home side were reduced to 10-men as early as the third minute. Lentswe Motaung was given a straight red card for a foul on Yanela Mbuthuma.
Pirates capitalised with Relebohile Mofokeng scoring a stunning free kick in the sixth minute of the match.
Tshepang Moremi made it 2-1 in the 41st minute when he found the back of the net with an assist from Deon Hotto.
As the home team struggled to contain the visitors, Mlungisi Mbunjana conceded an own goal to give the away side a healthy cushion of 3-0 before the halftime break.
Mofokeng scored the fourth in the 53rd minute before Kamogelo Sebelebele struck the fifth in the 64th minute. Rele was on fire as the Bafana Bafana forward completed his hat-trick in the 69th minute.
Pirates are now on 51 points with eight matches to play, while Mamelodi Sundowns are on 50 points with nine matches to go until end of the season.
