Para-cyclist Pieter du Preez wins bronze for Team SA in Paris.

Pieter du Preez has won South Africa’s third medal at the Paris Paralympic Games, a bronze in the H1 category in para-cycling.

Du Preez, who took gold in Tokyo, crossed the finish line in third with a time of 36:07.05 as Fabrizio Cornegliani took gold in 34:50.45 and Maxime Hordies silver in 35:11.13.

It’s Team SA’s third Paralympic medal.

The H1 category in para-cycling is for athletes with highly affected movement in the trunk, legs and hands.

Meanwhile Gold medallist Mpumelelo Mhlongo is back in action on a busy day for Team SA at the 2024 Paralympics. He competes in the men’s T64 long jump final at the Stade de France in the evening.
