Former Bidvest Wits and Orlando Pirates defender Patrick Phungwayo will appear in court on Wednesday for bail application after being arrested for a series of crimes last week.
Police confirmed earlier that Phungwayo was denied bail after being arrested for allegedly a series of crimes, including hijacking.
According to a family friend and Phungwayo’s one-time mentor Joe Seanego, the footballer has been charged with possession of stolen property.
On Monday the 33-year-old left-back made his first court appearance and will appear again on Wednesday for his ongoing bail application.
“Today it was just a court appearance,” Senego told Kickoff.com.
“We will attend the bail application on Wednesday. The judge has granted us to do the bail application on Wednesday.
“He was only charged with possession of stolen cars in his yard. He was not present at the crime scene.
“He has been taken off the ID parade, he is not on the ID parade. It’s only the other suspects now, said Senego”
