Orlando Pirates beat Djabal Club 3-0 to proceed to the second round of the preliminary stage of the Caf Champions League at Orlando Stadium on Friday.

Zakhele Lepasa’s brace and Patrick Maswangayi’s goal handed the Pirates the win here in Orlando tonight, while the latter had scored the lone goal in the first leg in Comoros.

Lepasa has scored eight goals in six matches in all competitions this season.

Pirates will meet with either Jwaneng Galaxy or Vipers in the second round in their bid to qualify for the group stage, but they’ll bank on this win to fuel them to do better than the class of 2013.

A decade ago, Pirates beat Djabal 9-0 on aggregate in the preliminary round of the group stage qualifiers to finish as the losing finalists to Al Ahly under coach Roger De Sa.

After securing their place in the next round of the continental tournament, Pirates will shift their focus back to the Premiership where they will host Cape Town City at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday (7.30pm).
