Orlando Pirates’ title aspirations took a knock after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Siwelele FC in their Betway Premiership clash in Orlando on Saturday.
The result means Pirates now have a one-point lead over second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns, but the latter have a game in hand that will be played on Tuesday when they host struggling Marumo Gallants.
Pirates were stunned when Vincent Pule struck the opening goal in the 29th minute with an assist from Tebogo Potsane.
The Buccaneers fought back and equalised in the 51st minute when Thalente Mbatha provided an assist for Tshepang Moremi to score.
Pirates will be back in action against TS Galaxy at the Mbombela Stadium next Sunday, as they hope to make up lost ground in the title race.
On the same day, Siwelele will aim to increase the gap between themselves and second-from-bottom Orbit College as they face one another at the Dr. Petrus Molemela Stadium.
Meanwhile Golden Arrows returned to winning ways after recording a 2-1 victory over a 10-man Marumo Gallants outfit at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Magesi FC showed character as they fought back to hold Chippa United to a 2-2 draw in the Betway Premiership match played at the Seshego Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
