Orlando Pirates ended their pre-season camp in Spain with a 2-0 victory over Granada CF at the Marbella Sports Center on Saturday evening.
Goals in the second half from Patrick Maswanganyi and Relebohile Mofokeng gave Pirates their only victory on tour.
Pirates lost to Bolton Wanderers in their first game in Spain and that loss was followed by draws against Pafos FC and Las Palmas.
The Buccaneers enjoyed a lot of the ball in the early stages, with Sipho Mbule getting a few good touches in the middle of the park while Tshepang Moremi and Thapelo Xoki had a couple chances.
Granada did manage to force a save out of goalkeeper Sipho Chaine just before the halftime break.
The Spanish side should have opened the scoring six minutes after the break, as Lucas Boye rose above his marker to meet an in-swinging corner but he sent his header just wide of the upright, before Mofokeng was denied by Granada goalkeeper Luca Zidane at the other end minutes later.
Granada were to pay for the missed chances when Patrick Maswanganyi scored from a rebound in the 80th minute. 10 minutes later, Mofokeng put the game beyond Granada’s reach when the netted the second goal, finishing off a great move from Pirates.
Meanwhile Kaizer Chiefs lost their final friendly match of their preseason camp in the Netherlands 2-1 against FC Twente at Sportpark Voetbalvereniging Rood Zwart in Delden on Wednesday.
