Gauteng police are investigating the circumstances which lead to the deaths of a 36-year-old man and his six-month-old daughter.
The two bodies were found in a home on a smallholdings in Randfontein, west of Johannesburg.
It is suspected that they might have died as a result of smoke inhalation.
“The younger brother of the deceased was called by the girlfriend indicating that they need help,” says Gauteng police spokesperson Kay Makhubela.
“Upon arrival, he found that the room was locked, and they broke in and found that there was smoke in the house and saw the dead bodies. The cause of the death is unknown now, but we suspect that the smoke might be the cause of death.”
