SA Police Services (SAPS) are investigating the murders of two Eskom contract workers in Ermelo, Mpumalanga, on Thursday.
Provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, said the fatal incident took place on Thursday, October 31 around 8am.
“According to information, the victims, aged 37 and 40 were reportedly taking a vehicle for a service in one of the mechanic’s workshop when they met their untimely death.
‘The two are said to have dropped off a vehicle at Thusiville in Ermelo and were using another car as they were returning (to work). It was during this time when they were attacked,” said Mdhluli.
Mdhluli said details and circumstances surrounding this incident are still being investigated.
A lifeless body of one of the victims was found inside the car meanwhile the second victim was found outside the vehicle.”
Empty cartridges were found at the scene.
Mdhluli said the motive behind the killing still unknown.
Meanwhile, acting police commissioner in Mpumalanga, Major-General Zeph Mkhwanazi, reassured the public that a team of investigators has been assigned to the case.
“The members are working around the clock to bring perpetrators thereof to book,” he said.
In the second incident, police responded to a call that led to two men that were caught in possession of stolen items in Emanyeveni, Kabokweni. However, when officers arrived at the scene, they found the two men lying on the ground with gunshot wounds.
