Proteas Test captain Temba Bavuma has been ruled out of the second Test against Bangladesh due to a left elbow injury.
The injury had already kept Bavuma from playing this week’s first Test in Dhaka, which South Africa won by seven wickets.
Cricket South Africa (CSA) said in a statement on Friday that Bavuma had “made significant progress in his rehabilitation”, but he will not be match-ready when the second Test starts in Chattogram next Tuesday (29 October).
Opening batsman Aiden Markram will again captain the Proteas in Bavuma’s absence.
Proteas Test squad against Bangladesh:
