The Premier Soccer League has announced that South African football fans will be allowed back into the stadiums from 8 April.
The announcement was made by PSL chairman Dr Irvin Khoza on Tuesday.
“The league has earmarked the Nedbank quarterfinal matches of the 8th and 9th of April as the first matches to be opened to spectators,” said Khoza.
The PSL executive committee met on Monday after President Cyril Ramaphosa announced a lifting of various Covid-19 restrictions.
Khoza pointed out that fans who will want to attend the games will have to adhere to the guidelines set by the government, including showing proof of vaccination.
“Upon purchasing your ticket, you will be required to show your ID and your vaccination card,” added Khoza.
“It is very important that we encourage our supporters to vaccinate when they want to come to matches, because we are focusing to have 100 percent retain of spectators through all out matches.”
Cricket and rugby fans have already enjoyed live domestic and international matches around the country.
