Punjab Kings beat Mumbai Indians by five wickets on Sunday to set up an Indian Premier League (IPL) final against Royal Challengers Bengaluru to be played in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.
Chasing 204 for victory in a rain-delayed last playoff, Punjab achieved the target with six balls to spare to reach their second IPL final.
Punjab and Bengaluru finished first and second, respectively, in the IPL 2025 standings after the league stage, and subsequently faced off in Qualifier 1 on Thursday in Mullanpur. Bengaluru emerged victorious in that game, beating Punjab by eight wickets to book a place in the final after nine years.
Both Punjab and RCB are eyeing their first IPL title and the world’s most lucrative franchise cricket league is set to crown a new champion.
Meanwhile Joe Root became England’s leading run-scorer in one-day internationals as his sparkling unbeaten 166 secured a three-wicket win over West Indies in Cardiff.
