The Pretoria Capitals and Joburg Super Kings shared the spoils after their SA20 clash at Supersport Park in Centurion was washed out on Saturday night.
It is not the worst result for the Capitals, as the two points gained lifts them above Mumbai Indians Cape Town into the fourth and final playoff spot with three pool matches still to play.
However, it is set to be a thrilling end to the competition with the Capitals on 10 points, MI Cape Town on nine and Super Kings on eight all fighting for that final playoff place.
At the start of the game, the Capitals won the toss and chose to bowl first, but just 4.4 overs were possible with the Super Kings reaching 44 for two before the storm rolled in to end proceedings.
It was unfortunate for Super Kings captain Faf du Plessis, who has struggled for form in the competition so far, but looked in good nick as he struck four boundaries and a six in scoring an unbeaten 25 off 12 balls.
The two wickets to fall were both taken by Eathan Bosch, with Reeza Hendricks (11) edging behind to keeper Phil Salt, and Leus du Plooy bowled for a fourth-ball duck.
The last play of the game was an exciting one, with new batter Sibonelo Makhanya (6no) seemingly caught brilliantly by Colin Ingram on the boundary to give Bosch his third scalp, only for replays to show Ingram had grazed the rope with his boot, meaning it was adjudged a six.
The Super Kings now gear up for their huge game against MI Cape Town at Newlands on Monday, while the Capitals travel to Kingsmead to take on table-topping Durban’s Super Giants on Tuesday.
