Rand Water has warned of a 54-hour water shutdown in parts of Gauteng, starting on Monday.
The water utility said in a statement published this week that it forms part of a scheduled shutdown of its B11 and B19 pipelines.
The shutdown forms part of Rand Water’s B19 Pipeline Augmentation Project and is the final leg of this programme that will increase the volumes of the B19 pipeline and therefore ensure sustainable supply of water to the consumers, it said.
This will affect the water supply from the Rand Water Eikenhof pump station to the south of Johannesburg, the CBD and the northern and western areas as the supply will be reduced by 25%.
“Water supply from the Rand Water Swartkoppies system to the central CBD will be reduced by 50%.”
The affected areas are:
Roodepoort/Randburg area: Bergbron, Claremont, Delarey, Whiteridge, Roodekrans (all extensions), Wilropark (all extensions), Helderkruin (all extensions), Constantia Kloof (all extensions), Allen’s Nek (all extensions), Weltervreden (all extensions), Florida Hill, Discovery (all extensions), Selwyn, Florida Township, Honeydew (all extensions), Zandspruit, Laser Park, Randpark Ridge, Cosmo City, Lanseria, Thabo Mbeki informal settlement, Olivedale, Sundowner, Northwold, Boskruin, Bromhof, Kya Sands, Bloubosrand, Eagle Canyon, Honeydew View, Poortview, Ruimsig, Wilgeheuwel, Princess Glober, Lindhaven, Little Falls, Harveston, Honeydew and parts of Northriding.
