The 2023/24 Premier Soccer League Awards ceremony took place on Sunday evening, with Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates dominating.
Grant Kekana clinched the DStv Premiership Defender of the Season accolade, while Patrick Maswanganyi was honored with the Midfielder of the Season title, in addition to winning the Nedbank Cup Player of the Season award and DStv Premiership Player’s Player of the Season.
Pirates rising star Relebohile Mofokeng enjoyed a dual victory by claiming the Young Player of the Season and the Nedbank Cup Most Promising Player of the Tournament titles.
Sipho Chaine secured the MTN8 Last Man Standing after his heroics in competition, particularly the penalty shootout in the final proved decisive as Pirates secured victory over the Brazilians to claim the trophy. Devin Titus was named Carling Knockout Player of the Tournament, a recognition of his pivotal role in helping the Winelands side win the trophy.
In addition, Sundowns received the Chairman’s Award in recognition of their remarkable achievements over the past decade.
Ronwen Williams won the big award of the named after being voted PSL Footballer of the Season (voted for by coaches), while Maswanganyi was voted Player’s Player of the Season by his peers.
Meanwhile, Rulani Mokwena walked away with the DStv Premiership Coach of the Season accolade after guiding Sundowns to their seventh successive league title.
