Bafana Bafana beat Egypt 1-0 in an international friendly at Cairo International Stadium on Sunday evening, 04 October 2026.
President Cyril Ramaphosa had earlier visited the Bafana Bafana camp, where he was welcomed by SAFA president Dr Danny Jordaan and coach Pitso Mosimane before being introduced to the players.
Puso Dithejane scored the decisive goal on his debut as South Africa ended the camp with three wins from three matches.
The 22-year-old Chicago Fire winger showed composure to steal the ball off a scramble between defender and goalkeeper before going on to slot into an empty net in the 51st minute.
The victory followed back-to-back 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying wins over Guinea and Eritrea, giving Mosimane’s side the perfect return from their September-October international window.
With the pressure mounting and the match heading into added time, the final stages produced some nervy moments for Mosimane’s charges, who had to remain disciplined and held on to secure a hard-fought 1–0 win over Egypt.
