The Galleria in Sandton played host to an electrifying press conference for Sandton Mayhem, the highly anticipated boxing event set to take place on 1 November 2025.
The press conference organized by Aquila Boxing Promotions (ABP), drew media representatives, fans, and sponsors eager to get a first glimpse of the fighters, titles on the line, and the excitement expected at the year-end showdown.
Kevin Lerena, heavyweight champion and ABP founder, opened the event with a passionate address on the state of South African boxing and his vision for elevating the sport.
Lerena described Sandton Mayhem as “a night where every fighter will step into the ring knowing it could be the defining moment of their career.”
The main event will see Kaine Fourie face off against Claudio Gabriel Daneff of Argentina for the vacant IBO Intercontinental Lightweight Title.
Fourie, speaking at the press conference, stated, “This fight is about making a statement. I’m ready to prove myself and take the first step towards a world-title shot.”
Another headline bout includesLindo Khuzwayo taking on Rilwal Lawal of Nigeria for the IBO All Africa Featherweight Title, a fight that promises ten rounds of high-intensity action. ABP described this match-up as “one of the most competitive undercards in recent South African boxing history.”
Rising local prospects were also showcased, including bouts featuring Luke Hendricks versus Sabelo Ndlovu, giving fans a preview of the talent pipeline in South Africa. Lerena emphasised that these “fights are raw, real, and reflective of the depth of talent our country has to offer.”
