The underworld kingpin Vusimusi ‘Cat’ Matlala’s wife, Tsakane, and four others arrested for falsifying documents to secure a lease agreement in the capital city, Tshwane.
Tsakane Matlala is accused of falsifying bank statements to help her husband to secure a controversial R1.2-million lease agreement for a luxury mansion in Waterkloof.
Fullview understands Cat Matlala had secured the lease for the property for himself and his wife, by posing as a Swati prince.
Matlala was arrested earlier on Tuesday, 22 September 2026, by members of the Gauteng Political Killings Task Team. She is the fourth suspect to be arrested in connection with a fraudulent lease agreement.
South African Police Services (SAPS) national spokesperson Brigadier Atlenda Mathe said they are expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday facing a number of charges.
Mathe said, “It is alleged they acquired various properties across Gauteng utilising fraudulent documents.”
The details of the charges including the value of the lease and the roles of the other suspects, have not yet been fully disclosed.
Meanwhile the suspended National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola has opened up about the emotional toll of his suspension from the South African Police Service (SAPS).
Masemola had faced charges under the Public Finance Management Act (PMFA) over alleged inadequate oversight of a controversial multimillion-rand SAPS healthcare contract.
The charges were formally withdrawn by the Pretoria Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 22 Septermber 2026.
Speaking after his brief court appearance, Masemola described his suspension as one of the most challenging periods of his life. He said he is now eager to return to work and continue serving the people of South Africa.
